Sermon Poetry, 14 February 2010
Sermon Title – “The Great Commission and the Church”
Sermon Text – Matthew 28:16-20
Preacher – Pastor Steve Garrick

Jesus Christ, Exalted King, has sent His Chosen Bride
He sends as One who rules and reigns, as One Who’s earned the right
Both God and Man, the Lamb Who died, our risen Potentate
Our slaughtered Lord, our sovereign King, our God who loves and saves

Our loving Lamb has bound the one who hates the Holy God
This devil’s bound by Jesus Christ and men are being saved
The Spirit moves and men are saved from every tribe and tongue
The Church is sent and used by Christ to call His chosen loves

Our Savior sends His holy Bride into a darkened world
So men are saved and sanctified, submitting to the Lord
Our goal is to disciples make, baptizing growing souls
So they can be more like our Lord, this work’s our worthy goal

The Great Commission’s still our goal, until our King’s Return
The Word proclaimed is till our task, the Church is going forth
Though single souls, we’re saved in One, the Bride of Jesus Christ
You love the Groom, you’ll love the Bride and work so she is saved

The Church is called to preach the Word to lost and deadened men
The Great Commission is our task, to missionaries send
We meet to pray, we hear the Word, we send to preach the Truth
The Gospel of our Lord and King to send into the World

Sermon Poetry, 7 February 2010
Sermon Title – “The Great Commission and the Purpose of God”
Sermon Text – Romans 8:18-25
Preacher – Pastor Steve Garrick

For all of time our God above has been eternal blest
Sufficient in Himself
With happiness and joy supreme, full fellowship of Three

He made a world that fell in sin, rebellion from our race
We fell in sin and death
But in our sin, He’s glorified and we are given Grace

The world we’re in is frail and pale, it breaks and falls apart
Our hearts are weak and poor
But in our Christ, we’re made alive, the fruits of Heaven’s earth

We’re slaves to sin, corruption’s lord, this world will rot away
We can’t escape its work
Subjected firm, with Hope the goal, the futile thence to Grace

Before the world was ever made, ‘twas God ordaining sin
And all of its effects
This sin and death was worth the hope of Christ’s eternal win

Sermon Title – “Christian Unity and the Pastoral Ministry, #4”
Sermon Text – Ephesians 4:12-16
Preacher – Pastor Larry Vincent

Pastors preach the Word of God to saved and fellow slaves
With Word and Prayer to minister so Christ in us is praised
The Truth of God proclaimed and heard, the knowledge of our Lord
We hear and live, obey and serve, submitting to the Word

There’s danger in the world about, and even in our hearts
Temptations to derail our faith, from devils foul and smart
We’re kept through what our God has said, the mercy of the Word
The Spirit keeps our souls secure, in Jesus Christ our Lord

In Christ we’re loved for all of time, our hearts are washed and cleansed
We’re called to love our fellow saints, though sinners all we be
The words we hear are given feet and hands to love our King
We love our Lord by loving men, the praise of God we sing

In Jesus Christ the lost are saved, we’re ragamuffins weak
We’re knit and joined into His frame, our Head is Jesus sweet
Though feet or hands, we’ve all a part in glorifying God
We love the World and love the Church, as one in Christ we trod

Sermon Poetry, 24 January 2010
Sermon Title – “Christian Unity and the Pastoral Ministry – #3”
Sermon Text – Ephesians 4:12-16
Preacher – Pastor Larry Vincent

The Church of Jesus Christ is held and kept by Grace and Love
She’s made alive through Jesus’ death and washed by Jesus’ blood
She’s called to live her life in Christ and die as Jesus died
The Word of God Creation works and gives the Church her life

The Word proclaimed, the Word as known, enlivens her to grow
She studies what her King has said, Berean Christans all
Submitting to her Holy King, her one and holy Head
She worships Christ, her Risen Lord, believing what He said

As pastors preach and tell the Word, to preaching Christ they’re held
They dare not go beyond the scope provided by the Word
Proclaimers are provided by our Lord for Christian’s good
Yet they are held, submitting to, our Savior and our Lord

I often wonder why I want to preach the Word of God
Such danger is within the role, a journey rough to trod
Yet I’m compelled to stay the course until His will is known
Lord give me strength to know Your Truth to someday preach Your Son

Sermon Poetry, 17 January 2010
Sermon Text – John 10:40-42
Preacher – Pastor Tom Lyon

By Grace God uses preaching of
His Word proclaimed and heard
The Power of the Word of God
Is Grace of God our Lord

The preaching of the Word of God
Is power strong and sweet
‘Tis greater than amazing works
The place where Jesus meets

The Spirit of our Holy Lord
Gives preaching power great
Without His work, the Lost won’t live
He loves the ones who hate

Amazing words and stunning dress
Are empty without Truth
Just useless words and wasted breath
Is preaching lacking Truth

True preaching sanctioned by the Lord
Tells Truth of Jesus Christ
Christ crucified must be our theme
The Lamb of greatest price

The Word proclaimed will till the ground
Of hardened sinners hearts
The Words of God are mighty seeds
That flourish, Grace imparts

The Word believed will action take
The Spirit quickens souls
It’s by His Grace that men believe
Increasing Heaven’s rolls

Lord give me great humility
As now I learn Your Word to speak
Preparing for the Ministry
A slave of Jesus Christ

The task is great and humbling
Proclaiming Truth while worshipping
Equipping Saints Your praise to sing
Lord Jesus, grant me strength

The preacher’s called to teach the Word
Equipping saints to use the Sword
We stand by grace of God our Lord
His glory is our goal

To Christ our lives and words submit
With growth in grace, engaging sin
In battle fierce, our prayer to win
Lord Jesus, keep my soul!

I’m called to hold the Word of God
And trust its truths, in word and deed
Its words to trust, its truths to heed
Submitting to the King

Lord God I sin and disobey
Forgive my sins, I weekly pray
And keep me through the coming Day
When I will then be home

Sermon Title – “Christian Unity and the Pastoral Ministry #1”
Sermon Text – Ephesians 4:7-16
Preacher – Pastor Larry Vincent

In Jesus Christ we have our Head
Our slain and living King
He bled and died, the Church to save
Our feeble praise we bring
As Head our Lord has gifted us
By Grace the Church is made
We’ve gifts to build and edify
The Bride who Jesus saved

Our King has conquered sin and death
And ground our stony hearts
He fights against our enemies
His grace to us imparts
Our bruised and broken Potentate
Our Groom of love and grace
Has won our hearts, securing life
Our hope in Christ is placed

The gifts we have, the lives we live
Are from and for our Lord
So we can glorify our King
Our Kind, Eternal Word
Through blood we’re cleansed, by death we live
We’re ragamuffins all
Yet Jesus gifts the Church, His Bride
We Stand, men of the Fall

In Christ we strive to honor God
Because we’re saved by Grace
To follow Him in Word and Deed
In Christ we run our race
We run as one, the Bride of Christ
In Jesus unified
We’re called to run and love and live
The Body justified

In Christ we’ve men who preach the Word
Equipping saints to serve
By heralds’ voice the Word is told
The Words of Christ are heard
The gifts of Christ are ours to use
With liberality
The Body lives, the Body serves
In Christ the Bride is free

In unity we all obey
Our Christ, our living Head
And to each other we submit
In praise to He who bled
We’ve gifts to build the Bride of Christ
To glorify our King
We live and love, rejoicing Christ
As One, His praise we sing

Through blood and through water our Savior was born
A baby both naked and cold
‘Twas beautiful screaming the first sounds he made
From Mary he suckled and fed

He came as an infant, a babe born to die
The Suffering Servant and King
He came in humanity, Savior in deity
His praises His people e’er sing

Christ came for a reason, to rescue His Bride
For sinners from every tongue
The Babe in the Manger, the Man on the Tree
Salvation by Jesus is won

The Father is faithful, His promises kept
In Jesus the Scriptures fulfilled
The Man of all Sorrows, the Prince of all Peace
For us Christ our Savior was killed

The Savior was born into poverty strong
Despised and rejected by men
In Christ’s incarnation poor sinners are saved
In Christ we are made into sons

Praise Jesus our Savior, our Shepherd, our King
Praise Him all you sinners and saints
Praise Jesus for coming, a babe born to die
Come all, lift your voices and praise

In Christ we’ve life that comes from God
As men once blind we see
We’re called to love our Sovereign King
The One by whom we’re free
The sin within is raging fierce
The Spirit holding strong
Lord, give us strength to keep Your Word
Your worship be our song

In Christ we’re one, we’re unified
Once sinners all, we’re free
How do we love the ones of God?
How do we love our King?
We hate and lie, we cheat and steal
Despising Jesus’ own
Once enemies, now brothers all
We praise our Lord enthroned

We’re children of our Lord and King
Of every race and tongue
But now, in Christ, we all are His
In Christ the Church is one
We all were sinners foul and rank
Depravity was ours
But now in Christ we’re saved and cleansed
His mercy on us poured

We’re called to join with Jesus’ own
Submitting one to all
Forgiving fellows’ heinous sins
And asking love for ours
We’re bound to do the dirty work
Of loving fellow men
We’re called to build relationships
With those redeemed from sin

Lord please forgive us when we lose
The point of Jesus’ love
When pride and arrogance is strong
O’er others placed above
Lord humble us, Your mercy heal
In spirit make us poor
Relying on Your loving grace
To others place before

Your grace convict me to repent
And turn from all my sin
In self-control to love Your own
My family and my kin
You saved my soul, You made me live
You’ve loved me as Your son
In Christ my heart is born again
Redemption You have won

I’m saved by grace, through faith in Christ
A sinner, now a saint
A rebel once, in Christ a son
All thanks to God, I’m saved

Although I’m saved, this life gets dark
God’s Hand is heavy still
When I despair of life and love
I thank His gracious will

God’s promises are sure and good
He loves His rebel own
When we are beat by lords and kings
Our God is on His Throne

The Church is beat and raped and killed
But still she marshals on
She’s kept by God, sustained by Grace
And loved by Christ the Son

The rule of God is over all
In times of love and strife
The Spirit keeps the Saints of God
In Christ the dead have life

The Church is made of sinners all
Of every kind and tribe
All sinners we in Christ are free
And loved by Him on high

All thanks to God who saves by grace
Through faith in Christ the Son
The Spirit moves and keeps the Church
Whose freedom has been won

Sermon Poetry , November 15, 2009
Sermon Title – “God and Adam in the Garden”
Sermon Text – Genesis 2:15-17
Preacher – Dr. Jim Renihan

In all of Creation was beauty to see
More lovely than can be designed
The Garden of Eden was perfectly made
Both lovely and wildly refined

The crowning achievement of all that was made
Was Adam in image of God
‘Twas beauty in Adam, in form and in heart
And lovely morality strong

Yet there in the Garden lived two comely trees
From one Adam never could eat
Consumption of one eternality gave
To eat of the other gave death

Required of Adam to perfectly live
Submission to Yahweh as Lord
With foul disobedience Adam would die
To follow or not Yahweh’s Word

With nasty rebellion, pure Adam chose death
And sin entered into the Earth
And sad separation between God and man
Brought death and much sorrow to birth

But even in sorrow a blessing proclaimed
A promise of Jesus the Lord
The Savior of many, the Ultimate Man
Who gave us salvation by works

In Adam humanity failed in the Fall
We shattered the promise of works
But now in our Adam, our Savior, our Christ
We’re saved by His grace in His works

Praise Father from whom all our blessings do flow
Praise Him all you Creatures below
Praise Him now you angels, the heavenly host
Praise Father, the Son and the Ghost

In Christ our salvation is won on the Cross
Through death do we sinners find love
In Christ we are chosen, foul worms are we all
In Christ we are made into sons!

And now in our Savior, we’ve life to obey
His righteousness covers our sins
Once sinners of darkness, now children of light
In Jesus, salvation is won

Sermon Poetry, 8 November 2009
Sermon Text – John 18:1-13
Preacher – Pastor Mike Tardive

Kind Jesus, Your people are suffering life
With sadness and sickness and poverty strong
They’re crying with voices of weakness and sorrow
With quavering lips they are singing their song

You’ve given us cups with a drink hard to swallow
We haven’t the strength to survive Sovereign Will
We’re crying with voices of frailty and mourning
Come calm with Your mercy and make our hearts still

We suffer as people who worship our Savior
We follow our Jesus, our Suffering Lord
He drank from His chalice, prepared by the Father
Fulfilling the Scriptures, God’s beautiful Word

Our Father is Sovereign, with Providence Holy
His will is accomplished, no matter how sad
So as Jesus swallowed, our sins were forgiven
We’re bathed in His blood, and our mourning is glad

We’re washed in His mercy, we’re cleansed by His blood
Through death are we living, through blood made alive
In Him is salvation, we’ve access to Yahweh
Once sinners of darkness, now Children of Light

Sermon Poetry, 1 November 2009
Sermon Text – 2 Cor. 2:14-16

A fragrance of Jesus, a sweet smelling life
Lord, give me the mercy to be
A vessel to witness of Jesus’ great love
This mercy be showered on me

I’m planting the Gospel, I’m watering dirt
But haven’t the power to grow
The growing is given through Jesus’ shed blood
The Spirit enlivening stones

Although we aren’t many, Your mercy is large
You save how You will when You want
Lord, help us to trust You, though fearful we be
To suffer as Jesus above

Please keep us encouraged, to keep running on
To run further up, further in
Lord give perseverance, dear Father we pray
To stay in the race you have giv’n

Dear Father, this sinner is weak and is frail
With nary the strength to obey
Enable this sinner to love as I’m loved
The love of my Savior e’er sweet

Sermon Poetry, 11 October 2009
Sermon Title: “Resurrected and Reconciled to Worship”
Sermon Text: Ephesians 2:19-22
Preacher: Pastor Larry Vincent

I once was dead, I’m now a saint
In Christ I’m made alive
No growth exists where death is king
In Christ does life now thrive

In Christ, the Jew and Pagan live
His Grace is large and wide
So all who do believe in him
Might live in Jesus Christ

In Christ the Gentile and the Jew
Are saved and made as one
We are the Church, the Bride of Christ
The Body of the Son

Of every tribe and race and tongue
Are men and women saved
To glorify our God above
And worship all our days

United are the Father’s Own
In Christ our hearts remade
To join the worship of the Lamb
By Him our souls are saved
