The Lord, Our Savior, and Our Friend

(set to the tune of “There is a Fountain”)

Lord when it’s hard to live for Christ
And when it’s hard to stand
Help us to fix our Gaze above
To our Eternal Land
To our Eternal Land, to our Eternal Land
Help us to fix our Gaze above
To our Eternal Land

Lord God it’s by Your grace alone
That we are justified
Please give us comfort in Your Blood
The Love in which You died
The Love in which You died, the Love in which You died
Please give us comfort in Your Blood
The Love in which You died

Lord give us grace to know Your Truth
You’ve given us Your Word
By it we know of Jesus Christ
By it we call You Lord!
By it we call You Lord, by it we call You Lord
By it we know of Jesus Christ
By it we call You Lord

Lord give us hope in Who You are
Our Maker and our Friend
Our Sovereign King, and Savior Sweet
Whose Mercy has no end
Whose Mercy has no end, whose mercy has no end
Our Sovereign King, and Savior Sweet
Whose Mercy has no end!

Sermon Poetry – “Lord Give Us Strength to Persevere”

One of pastors, Pastor Jarrett Downs, has been preaching through Revelation of late, and yesterday he spoke on , about how John was on Patmos (a lonely, rocky prison island) because of the proclamation of the Gospel while worshiping.  The point?  Persevere, with persistent, grinding patience, even when times are hard.  These are my thoughts on the Word preached.

Lord give us strength to persevere
When times have gotten tough
When friends and family truth ignore
When people treat us rough
We try to speak Your Word to friends
And kin who don’t believe
When ears are stopped and hearts are hard
Help us your mercy see

Lord give us strength to persevere
When persectution comes
When we are beat and raped and slain
Help us to see our Home
This earth is not our final stay
We know we’re killed for you
But Lord it’s hard, we’re very weak
God, ground us in Your Truth

Lord give us strength to persevere
When it seems we are beat
By all the sin within our frame
We need the Cross to see
That in the Son our sin is washed
We’re cleansed with Jesus’ blood
Your mercies overwhelm our souls
A washing, cleansing flood

Lord give us strength to persevere
As we wait for our Home
We’re aliens where ‘er we are
We’re strangers here we know
So as we wait (it’s by Your Grace)
We’ll strive to stay the course
Obedience is what we seek
To glorify our Lord

Jesus You’re My Sure Redeemer

(set to the tune of “Come Thou Fount”)

Jesus You’re my Sure Redeemer
By Your Grace I’m justified
By Your mercy you have saved me
By the Cross on which You died
Oh my Lord and loving Savior
Oh my God, my Righteous King
You have shown the World Your Greatness
And this song Your children sing

All Your children are so helpless
We cannot do any good
We’re sustained by Your redemption
We’re sustained by Scripture’s Food
We rely on Your Great Mercy
We are weak, we trust in You
Shower kindness on Your children
Comfort us with Your great Truth

You are Maker and Sustainer
Our Commander and our Friend
You’re our Savior and our Brother
And our hope until the End
When you come back in Your Triumph
When you come to bring us Home
Where we’ll worship You in Heaven
As we’re gathered ‘round the Throne

Oh my Jesus, hear Your children
As we sing Your praises loud
As we gather all our voices
As we make a joyful sound
We will glorify our Savior
We will glorify our Lord
He has given us salvation
He has given us His Word

Oh Lord, My Sin O’ertakes Me

(set to the tune of “O Sacred Head Now Wounded”)

Oh Lord my sin o’ertakes me
And claims me as its own
It blinds my eyes with malice
So I can’t see Your Throne
It wraps its foulest tendrils
Around my bony frame
It warps my inhibitions
So I’ll forget Your Name

I hate it when I’m sinful
I long to do Your Will
Lord, give me Grace to conquer
The sin within me still
I long, Lord, to be holy
Lord shower me with grace
Lord sanctify Your servant
To stand before Your Face

Lord bring me soon to Glory
Where I’ll be free from sin
I long to dwell in Heaven
Lord bring me to the end
I long to see Your Glory
With pure and seeing eyes
I long to worship fully
Where worship never dies

Come Now Ye Church and Sing

Come now ye Church and sing
To Your kind God above
He is your Lord, He is your King
Who showers you with Love
Come now and worship Christ
Come bask in Jesus’ light
Come look and wonder at the sight
With new and seeing eyes

Come now ye Church and love
Come love the weak and poor
You’re granted grace from God above
You’re weak before the Lord
You’re blessed with much to give
So show the Love of Christ
You have the Word by which to live
Come live with Jesus’ might

Come now ye Church of Christ
You sinners made anew
You’re called to live most holy lives
This calling won’t be through
Till Jesus comes again
With trumpets and with might
Come live for Christ, you Born-Again
Come live before His Light

God Bless Your Wounded Saints

Why don’t we think of saints across the nations wide
Why don’t we pray for their strength to stand, and in our Lord confide
Why don’t we think of friends who for the Gospel die
Why don’t we pray for the saints of God and to our Savior Cry

Oh Jesus give them strength, to battle for Your Truth
My Savior give them the strength to stand, to stand up tall for You
Oh Yahweh give them hope, that they might not forget
Your Grace and loved poured out full for them, that saved them from the Pit

Your people suffer pain, they are hated by the World
Help them to see that your love abounds, help them to grasp your Sword
They are tortured, raped, and burned; they are martyred for Your Name
Help us to trust in our Savior True, for when we face the same

We know that in your Word, You promised suffering
And from Your Word we know this Sure Truth, that You reign as the King
When we are hated by the World and Satan’s Crew
The World does not hate your children small, oh Lord their hate’s for You

Oh give your people strength, when persecution comes
If for our pain You are praised Most High, we suffer in Your Love
To suffer for your Praise, we count it Joy Supreme
We are but servants of God Most High, our loving Lord and King

Lord give your people Hope, your persecuted Own
That they’ll look unto your Son our Lord, who ruleth from The Throne
Help them to understand, their time on earth is small
Cause them to see the pearly Gate, the Golden Roads and Halls

Come Oh Jesus, Save Your Children

Come oh Jesus, save Your children
Please forgive us when we fall
We are saved by grace abundant
By Your love, our All-in-All
Help us to now learn repentance
Help us know the depths of grace!
When we fail Lord, keep us focused
On the beauty of Your Face

Come oh Jesus, save Your children
There’s a battle we must win
There are enemies surrounding
Ones who love to see us sin
Our foul culture hates Your children
Satan hates Your chosen ones!
And we have our sins to battle
Help us see by blood You’ve won

Come oh Jesus, save Your children
Free us from this shortest life
We dwell here with sin and sorrow
We dwell here with pain and strife
Oh my Savior, we look upward
To the hope of heav’n with Thee!
Come down with the sound of trumpets
Come and take us, make us free
