I don’t know where the video clips are from, but this is the best full version of the song I could find on YouTube.
Anyways, “Sometimes by Step”, sung by Rich Mullins with over-dubbing done by Bebo Norman. Great stuff.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2ugTc4bJ-o]
Lyrics:
Sometimes the night was beautiful
Sometimes the sky was so far away
Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close
You could touch it but your heart would break
Sometimes the morning came too soon
Sometimes the day could be so hot
There was so much work left to do
But so much You’d already done
CHORUS:
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You’ll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
Sometimes I think of Abraham
How one star he saw had been lit for me
He was a stranger in this land
And I am that, no less than he
And on this road to righteousness
Sometimes the climb can be so steep
I may falter in my steps
But never beyond Your reach
CHORUS
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
And step by step You’ll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
(Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days

Today’s “Music Wednesday” features Trip Lee and his song “Dig In” from 13 Letters.
The more I hear these guys‘ music, the more I love it. Musically, are there anything better than songs about Christ and His Word?
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9OUyqNPepQ]
LYRICS:
Yes sir, everyday got to jump in the text
‘Cause He’s the better way, yeah, the Son is the best
That trash: I’ll pass on the pump and the vest
Got the sword of the Spirit, I run to the text
I run to the best answer for every question
It’s got every teaching, every lesson,
That we could ever need for reppin’
Jesus, yes sir, He’s a blessing
We got to read His Holy Word
To deny this bible’s so absurd
I deny my pride, and God is first
So I got to dive inside His Word
What other way could we know how to live this thing?
It’s inspired by the Spirit, man
So listen man, the very Word of God is in the scriptures, man
We got to see its God breathed, and it’s His will for all creeds,
All races, all nations, Genesis to Revelation
So get up in it if you want to know
His will revealed through the Son and more
It’s real, but you’ll feel dumb to go
Without it as a Saint it will stunt your growth
But bro you supposed to grow much closer
To Jehovah bro He wrote you
All we need to grow as soldiers
And show other folks, we ‘posed to
So grab your pen, pencil, highlighter, and your commentary
And dig deep in the scriptures, Jesus with us He can carry
Hook:
Bible, check; spiral, check, highlighter check
Now dig (dig in it), dig (dig in it)
You want to know Him? Got to dig (dig) dig (in)
You want to know Him? Got to dig (dig) dig (in)
Verse 2:
Where all my cats who know the bible’s solid?
Grinding off in bible college, getting it in with Psalms and Prophets
Becoming urban bible scholars
Yearning, learning all the knowledge
Then putting it to use now that you got it
We need it, must read it, Jesus He is pleased with solid doctrine
Where all my cats who get up in the Word and love it?
Not just when they be up in the church in public
But in private they dive in, it be on they mind, they be thinking of it
We need that, read that, see that Jesus gets the glory He deserves
And the only way we can know His ways is if we stay up in His Word
He inspired it through writers they was carried along
The Spirit inspired the bible so all its merit is strong
Yes sir He breathed it Theopneustos
So if you trying to move close
Then get it, live it, give it to some faithful men that you know
Hope your passion is real passionate
Everybody in the faith got to master this
He ain’t just write the Bible for the Pastor kid
So how we all gon’ slack with it?
We got to get up in it heavy and be ready to live it out
This is for my Christians in it trying to figure scripture out
Verse 3:
It may seem hard to understand at times
But depend on the Lord He handed down
Scriptures pointing to Himself don’t just try to stack knowledge to cram in your mind
It ain’t about knowledge you stack or all the doctrine you pack
Inside your mind man God’s design was not just for you to find the facts
Don’t be like them Pharisees, man they knew the scripture good
But from the looks of things apparently they ain’t know all that they should
The Jews was searching the scriptures looking for life, the eternal kind
But for certain they was missing Christ John 5, verse 39
But don’t get twisted man they intentions was great
But they was missing the faith, they had it twisted mistake
So get up in them right, they a witness of the Christ
Search it learn it then stick it in your life
Listen to the Christ’s works and person
And perfect is a description of Him right?
Then pass it along to some faithful dudes
So cats will get strong and convey the truth
To others we love to discover truth and pass to our other brothers
Did I st-stutter? We got to follow Christ and His Father and the Spirit inside us guides us in the Word that’s the model

I’ve recently “discovered” Celtic Thunder, an Irish Quintet in the same vein of Celtic Woman.
This is the first song on their first album, as well as the first song performed at their concert (I think).
I don’t know the heart and mind of Phil Coulter, the man who wrote this song, but it has an encouraging spiritual application, especially in light of the recent Hurricane Ike.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMMEcoNEMdg]
The lyrics are below (note the Irish Gaeilge).
When the storm is raging
And thunder rolls
Deliver us from the ocean
Save our souls
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
When the winds are howling
Vigil keep
Shelter us and save us
From the deep
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
Thank you, Lord, you have brought us
Safe to shore
Be our strength and protection
Ever more
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
Déan trócaire, déan trócaire
A Thiarna
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)
A Thiarna, déan trócaire (Lord have mercy)
A Chríost, déan trócaire (Christ have mercy)

This is another great song from the guys at 116 Clique, called “Begin with the End”.
The song comes from an album called “13 Letters“, which is basically a summary of Paul’s Epistles in rap form.
Pure Greatness.

This music video was put together by the guys at History Makers. The artist is Lecrae. The song is “Send Me”.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjAJn7mLn-s]
send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
lemme go lemme go!
(repeat x4)
i seen it with my own two,
there’s no way i can show you
a perfectly poverty stricken people with no view.
And i bet you can’t believe this,
they never heard of jesus.
Heard young butler, lil wayne, and young jeezy.
No one’s signing up to go on missions this summa.
Rather sit at home and watch exibit pimp in a humma
while a nine year old is shot down.
No one’s screaming ‘stop now!’
no bridge illustrations for criminals who on lock down.
People deep in africa
looking for an answer bra’.
In china man,
they’re dieing man,
until they know who died for sins.
So look what grace did.
Not for us to stay here
inside our comfort zones
at home in mama’s basement.
Get out on the grind y’all.
Ain’t no better time doll.
I know y’all read the great commission.
Let me just remind y’all:
make disciples of the nations.
Teach’m to obey the lord.
Have to lead someone to christ before i face the lord.
Send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
lemme go lemme go!
(repeat x4)
hey! After, 1,000 years in the west and the churches
get’n bigger daily without understand’n worship. (say what?)
Some regenerate but a lot ain’t saved.
You walk outside and be surprised cuz the block ain’t changed.
And the numbers they be get’n me.
Something just ain’t hit’n them.
America ain’t christian they practice’n the ritual.
That’s why we should be mission though.
Hey, what you think i’m spit’n for?
The united states is die’n
and in the east is looking pitiful.
Some places if they catch you
they’ll arrest you.
They’ll serve you,
but they still need the word too.
The gospel should be heard too.
We claim we ain’t ashamed,
but we ain’t hit the block up.
Were in our christian bubble,
while our brotha’s get’n locked up.
Lord i wanna stock up,
pack a bag and walk up
in a country where my faith may get me shot up
anywhere i go, whether my city or far abroad,
i just wanna show’ christ the risen holy god.
Send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
lemme go lemme go!
(repeat x4)
i know they’re die’n in the streets over in the middle east.
Some kids sink in piece
others hold’n up a piece.
If the violence doesn’t cease,
then at least the deceased
might know jesus as their savior as their bodies hit the streets.
And i know this is a graphic view.
And i pray that it’s attack’n you.
Track’n you to act and do
what you see in the back illusion.
Mathew twenty-four and fourteen.
We should read it twice
before we think that life is just a battle
see we free in christ!
Look dawg! Life is more than church work and football!
What if you were dead and seen that christians overlooked y’all!
This is why we leave the couch
and leave the comforts of our house
to show a die’n world a god they’ll probably never read about.
The great commission says make disciples of all nations.
Have we even made them in our own nation?
Come on christians!
Missions exist because worship doesn’t.
People don’t worship the god who made them.
We’re ambassadors.
Let’s go!
Send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
send me I’ll go,
lemme go lemme go!
(repeat x4)
“Tears of the Saints” by Leeland.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg1jBuInMqA]
There are many prodigal sons
On our city streets they run
Searching for shelter
There are homes broken down
People’s hopes have fallen to the ground
From failures
This is an emergency!
There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We’re crying for them come back home
We’re crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home
There are schools full of hatred
Even churches have forsaken
Love and mercy
May we see this generation
In its state of desperation
For Your glory
This is an emergency!
There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We’re crying for them come back home
We’re crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home
Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children, in Christ you stand!
Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children, in Christ you stand!
There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We’re crying for them come back home
We’re crying for them come back home
And all Your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home
This week’s song is “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath.
I made the video this past weekend. In the video, the first song is Bi Thusa Mo Shúile (Be Thou My Vision) by Máire Ní Bhraonáin, and then it is followed by Give Me Your Eyes.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAmW4CgPDp0]
The lyrics are below.
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tile
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
Are those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?
Chorus:
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the once forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide whats underneath
Theres a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
To ashamed to tell his wife
He’s out of work
He’s buying time
Are those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?
I’ve been there a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just moving past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way you see the people all alone

This is a song I ran across and made this video for, maybe 2-3 years ago, about worship being the fuel for mission’s flame (by Matt Redman).
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qENs_lJFmXU]
Verse 1 Let worship be the fuel for mission's flame We're going with a passion for Your name We're going for we care about Your praise Send us out Verse 2 Let worship be the heart of mission's aim To see the nations recognize Your fame 'Til every tribe and tongue voices Your praise Send us out Chorus You should be the praise of every tongue, Jesus You should be the joy of every heart But until the fullness of Your kingdom comes Until the final revelation dawns Send us out Bridge Every tribe, every tongue Every creature in the heavens and the earth Every heart, every soul Will sing Your praise, will sing Your praise Every note, every strain Every melody will be for You alone Every harmony that flows from every tongue We'll sing Your praise, we'll sing Your praise We'll sing Your praise, we'll sing Your praise

Over the next few Wednesdays, I am planning on showcasing a few songs that have come out in recent years about evangelism and missions. As I am a big Caedmon’s Call fan, Share the Well is up first.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iv7SCceH28]
Share the Well
Je Ra Ji Ra, Ji Ra, De Ji Ra, De Ji Ji Ji
Share the well, share with your brother
Share the well my friend
It takes a deeper well to love one another
Share the well my friend
Je Ra Ji Ra, Ji Ra, De Ji Ra, De Ji Ji Ji
Do you think the water knows
Flowing down the mountain thaw
Finally to find repose
For any soul who cares to draw
Some kindred keepers of this Earth
On their way to join the flow
Are cast aside and left to thirst
Tell me know it is not so
Share the well, share with your brother
Share the well my friend
It takes a deeper well to love one another
Share the well my friend
All God’s creatures share the water hole
The bleesed day the monsoon comes
And in His image we are woven
Every likeness every one
From Kashmir to Karala
Under every banyan tree
Mothers for their children cry
With empty jar and bended knee
Share the well, share with your brother
Share the well my friend
It takes a deeper well to love one another
Share the well my friend
Je Ra Ji Ra, Ji Ra, De Ji Ra, De Ji Ji Ji
You know I’ve heard good people say
There’s nothing I can do
That’s half a world away
Well maybe you’ve got money
Maybe you’ve got time
Maybe you’ve got the Living Well
That ain’t every running dry
Share the well, share with your brother
Share the well my friend
It takes a deeper well to love one another
Share the well my friend
Share the well, share with your brother
Share the well my friend
It takes a deeper well to love one another
Share the well my friend
Je Ra Ji Ra, Ji Ra, De Ji Ra, De Ji Ji Ji

This guy, Keith L. Cooper, is one of the best guitarists I’ve ever seen. My brother-in-law rode to a camp with him and heard/watched him play and he said that Cooper’s ability is astounding. Check it out for yourself.
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=AqCtYkyo_2I]
And what’s cool, he’s from North Arlington. :-)
Next month I plan on starting a series of recent songs on Evangelism, but before I do that I just had to post this song by Matisyahu, a Hasidic Jewish Reggae/Rock singer.
Yes, I said he’s a Hasidic Jewish Reggae/Rock singer. (For a real trip, check out the above links from Wikipedia. Talk about eclectic!)
On Letterman:

And then the music videos for Jerusalem and King Without a Crown.
Gosh, he’s talented.

Last week I posted a video by Lecrae singing “Send Me” at Mars Hill Church. Since then, I’ve come across a video of this song put together by History Makers.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhIKUSU6m8w]
Also, I found these videos be Lecrae of him singing “Fanatic”. The first video has a great clip of him talking before the song, but the song itself has a fairly poor quality. So, I also found a video from what looks like the same concert that is a little better quality (without the pre-song chat).

If there is anyone reading this who is a big fan of music and who might also happen to be a big fan of free stuff, I would suggest you go to NoiseTrade.com. Basically, you give them three emails of friends and they will let you download any of the albums of the independent artists that they support. (Note that it is three emails per album) I’ve downloaded all of ‘em just because I love music and I love free stuff and I must say that for the most part the music is pretty good. For those who might know me and my musical tastes, they’ll know that the free Ringing Bell album by Derek Webb is of course my favorite that NoiseTrade makes available, but also check out Gravity/Love by Webb’s wife, Sandra McCracken. I also listened to some of Alli Rogers stuff, and she’s a decent artist as well.
Anyways, well worth checking out if you have the chance to.
